Carved Black Swan Earrings

One of our favorite and best selling earrings are the carved swans. Lightweight and organic, these earrings are made from horn, bone, abalone shell or wood. I first discovered them while visiting Indonesia and have been going back to the same family who make them ever since. There are so many artisans on these islands and everywhere are small workshops with master carvers working quietly on engraving stone or carving wood, weaving rattan or painting colorful masks.

These earring take many hours to make and have intricate and detailed designs made by hand as they have been for years by the families that specialize in this particular craft. They are unique and tell a story of a people and place that continue to value the traditions that have been handed down through the generations.
