As our Feminist AF event approaches this Saturday, we wanted to remind everyone how important it is to support the arts. We put together this event as a way to showcase and share the works of female artists in our community. We think supporting the arts (especially female artists!) is pretty darn important, and hope you feel the same!
5 things you can do to support the arts.
1. ATTEND events that are community-driven, supporting the arts, & promote diversity, empowerment, and education for all. Art unifies communities, sparks creativity and innovation which benefits us all.
2. ENGAGE with the artists and performers – if you loved their show, tell them! Ask questions, be curious, listen to their stories. Learn something.
3. SHARE! One simple post shared, one review, on person tagged or a comment made can make all the difference. Spread the love you feel.
4. EMPOWER – maybe you have an event, a space, an idea, a classroom, a need…how can you help support the arts and at the same time contribute to promoting individual expression?
5. SUPPORT – if you can purchase something directly from an artist, DO IT! How cool to own something from an artist you’ve met and spoken to about their work! Art is good for local businesses!
ALSO:
Please when possible pay with DOLLARS – keep the money in the hands of the artists!!!! Every purchase you make with CASH allows artists to keep 100% of sales instead of paying fees to a bank or credit card company.
See a full list of artists, makers, bakers, and performers participating this Saturday on the Facebook invite or check out the Esquina calendar for all the details for this and future events!
