Have you ever listened to your voice recorded on an answering machine or in a voicemail message and felt like the voice was just NOT you at all? Like the recorded voice of you just doesn’t sound anything like what the actual voice of you sounds like? That’s how I felt looking at this image of me you may have seen on the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page. Lipstick, poise, and freshly cut hair all nice and styled by the magical ladies at Chroma K8 Beautique, when on most days you’ll see me rockin’ my favorite $1.99 black knit beanie and some beat up Vans.
Don’t get me wrong, I dig the fact that A. The LSRCC was kind enough to do an interview with me about Nomadic Ant AND Esquina! and that B. the folks from TK Photography made me appear like some sort of professional business person when inside I feel like I am Louise Belcher. So yeah, it was weird to see this image of myself and I am far more comfortable staying on the opposite side of the camera lens. Luckily, the Chamber sent Ryan Warsing (check out his next improv night March 29- Show & Tell Show at Esquina ) to my shop for the interview, and it was super chill and we talked about just about everything as the palo santo burned and some electronic music played in the background. He asked a bunch of questions but mostly we just had a laid back chat, and the interview paints an accurate picture of who the person behind Nomadic Ant is on the inside.
Here’s the article complete with a photo of someone pretending to be the more professional version of the actual Suzanne Miranda you will find in the shop on most days. And yeah, I did mean to link to the German site for Bob’s Burgers, this is Lincoln Square, remember?! “Ich kann deine Angst riechen!”
enjoy! xo- s.
