Join us on Thursday, NOV 30 as we celebrate our 3rd year at Nomadic Ant’s Lincoln Square shop. To mark the occasion, we have invited Alison Slak to create a work of art for the space. ALISON SLAK is an interdisciplinary artist currently practicing in Chicago, Illinois. Her body of work is focused on the integration of community into artistic practice, and revolves around concepts of impermanence as well as the Zulu word “Ubuntu” which translates to English as “I am because we are.”

She will design her piece that night on canvas, and the work will be made with Nomadic Ant’s mission of trade, travel, and authenticity in mind. At any time if people at the event or passing by feel inclined to leave their mark on the canvas they are welcomed to contribute to the work alongside her.

The finished piece will be a permanent part of the space, a reminder of the strength of community and the importance of art within it.
